The 2026 BMW iX is available now at BMW Montreal Centre as the fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle built from the ground up for electric performance. This five-seat SAV delivers enhanced power output, extended range capabilities, and refined efficiency through fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. With three distinct variants--iX xDrive45, iX xDrive60, and iX M70 xDrive--the iX provides options from 402 hp up to 650 hp. Canadian MSRP starts at $88,900 for the xDrive45, $94,900 for the xDrive60, and $129,000 for the M70 xDrive.
The iX exterior features a monolithic appearance with clearly defined surfaces and SAV proportions. The front design centres on a redesigned BMW kidney grille frame with vertical and diagonal line structures. Optional contour illumination is available on xDrive45 and xDrive60 variants, while the M70 xDrive includes illumination as standard. The headlights incorporate vertical elements for daytime running lights and turn indicators, echoing the diagonal lines found in the kidney grille structure.
Dimensions measure 4,965 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,695 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase and 202 mm of ground clearance. The front and rear aprons feature seamless design with body-colour surfaces. The M Sport Package, now available for the first time on the iX, adds air intakes and M alloy wheels. The M Sport Pro Package includes dark Shadowline headlights, rear lights, a unique kidney grille, and red brake calipers.
The interior provides generous space across five seats with 1,055 mm of front headroom, 1,006 mm of rear headroom, 1,021 mm of front legroom, and 988 mm of rear legroom. The M Sport Package introduces M Multifunction Seats with enhanced lateral support, backrest width adjustment, lumbar support, and pronounced contouring in the thigh and shoulder areas. These seats are standard on the M70 xDrive and optional on other variants.
The M70 xDrive features exclusive microfibre/Sensatec upholstery in Atlas Grey/Black with M-specific stitching and BMW M tricolour accents. The M Multifunction Seats are also available in Amido natural leather and Castanea natural leather. The M Sport Package includes an M Leather Steering Wheel, two-tone instrument panel, leather upholstery, Dark Silver trim finishers, and M pedals. Five exterior colours are available: Arctic Race Blue Metallic, Dune Grey Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, Frozen Deep Grey, and Tanzanite Blue Metallic.
The iX features the BMW Curved Display with BMW iDrive and QuickSelect, based on BMW Operating System 8.5. The start screen permanently displays navigation map view or individually configurable displays. The driver's side shows vertical live widgets accessible with a swipe gesture. Bottom display icons provide direct access to climate control, All Apps menu, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant supports natural speech and touch operation.
BMW Maps cloud-based navigation comes standard with BMW Digital Cockpit Professional. The system provides charging-optimized route planning with frequent availability checks as the vehicle approaches scheduled charging stops. The BMW Digital Cockpit Professional, optional on xDrive45 and xDrive60 and standard on M70 xDrive, includes BMW Head-Up Display and Augmented View function. Standard 5G connectivity supports in-car gaming via the AirConsole platform, audio streaming, and online services.

The 2026 BMW iX is offered in three variants, each with distinct power outputs and range capabilities:
All iX variants use fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology with current-excited synchronous machines. Each electric motor, power electronics unit, and transmission integrates into a common housing with generator function for recuperation. The iX xDrive45 delivers 402 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds with an estimated range of up to 502 km. The xDrive60 produces 536 hp and 564 lb-ft of torque, reaching 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds with an expected range of up to 547 km.
The M70 xDrive generates between 570 and 650 hp depending on drive mode, with maximum torque ranging from 749 to 811 lb-ft when Launch Control is activated. The M70 xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h with performance tires. All variants feature electronically limited top speeds--200 km/h for xDrive45 and xDrive60, 210 km/h standard for M70 xDrive. All models use a single-speed transmission with all-wheel drive.
A trailer hitch is available as an option for the iX. The maximum permitted towing capacity for all model variants is 1,587 kg (3,500 lbs). This capability accommodates recreational trailers and equipment transport needs across all three iX variants.
Charging time varies by variant and charging method. Using the standard 9.6 kW Combined Charging Unit for AC charging, the xDrive45 requires 11 hours 15 minutes for 0-100% charge, while xDrive60 and M70 xDrive require 13 hours. DC fast charging from 10-80% takes 34 minutes for xDrive45 and 35 minutes for xDrive60 and M70 xDrive at maximum charging power.
