Since its founding in 1934, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal has distinguished itself as a leader in the orchestral life of Canada and Québec. A cultural ambassador of the highest order, the Orchestra has earned an enviable reputation internationally through the quality of its many recordings and tours. Internationally acclaimed conductor Rafael Payare was named the OSM's Music Director Designate for the 2021--2022 season following a unanimous vote by the Orchestra's selection committee. The Venezuelan conductor will commence full duties in 2022--2023--his tenure will last a minimum of five years--becoming the ninth Music Director in the OSM's history.

One of North America's leading documentary film festivals. Each year, the RIDM presents more than 150 Canadian and international documentaries. Its industry event, Forum RIDM, is Quebec's only documentary forum.
Based in Montreal, a city that has produced some of the most important documentary filmmakers in the history of cinema, the RIDM seeks first and foremost to promote and reflect on the most stimulating and diverse visions of documentary cinema. From works dealing with hot-button issues to daring creations that renew the language of cinema, the RIDM's selections are aimed at an annual renewal of our relationship with the world and with the documentary as an art form.
The festival screens more than one hundred films made by filmmakers from all over the world, installations as well as Virtual Reality. Masterclasses and debates, the RIDM works to bring artists and audiences together. Founded in 2005 by Alexandra Scheibler, the Festival Bach Montréal is North America's premier destination for the timeless musical genius of Johann Sebastian Bach and the cultural legacy he inspired. Each year, in November and December, Festival Bach Montréal presents some thirty events (recitals, concerts, open rehearsals, discussions, children's events, etc.) over a three-week period, bringing together more than 20,000 local and international festival-goers. Since winning first prize at the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium, Denis Kozhukhin has performed with the world's leading orchestras and made a name for himself as one of the outstanding pianists of his generation. Here he performs Mozart's Concerto No. 18, with its extraordinary slow movement on a theme and variations in G minor. Maestro Rysanov, himself of Ukrainian origin, will conduct two works by his compatriot Valentin Silvestrov, as well as the second of his selected Mozart symphonies, the lively and forceful 33rd.

Montrealers have been spellbound by the mechanical displays in Ogilvy's department store window for over 70 years -- a Holiday tradition that began in 1947. The Bavarian scenes, custom made by the German toy manufacturer Steiff, feature dozens of handcrafted animals working and playing.In 1911, the firm began producing mechanical windows featuring moving animals, which stores could rent or purchase -- an effective way of entertaining children while promoting their merchandise. James Aird Nesbitt, who owned Ogilvy's department store from 1927 to 1985, bought two -- The Enchanted Village and The Mill in the Forest.Similar to those of department stores in other parts of the world, such as Macy's in New York or Galeries Lafayette in Paris, these window displays are among the last of their kind in North America. They were donated to the McCord Stewart Museum in March 2018 by Holt Renfrew with the goal of preserving and ensuring the continuation of the iconic Montreal displays.The Museum is proudly maintaining this holiday tradition that has amazed Montrealers of all ages for over 75 years!

Montreal multimedia phenom Moment Factory has just launched a new nature walk. A night walk in search of the giant! Deep in the heart of Mont Tremblant, the last of the giants has awoken. Follow your sense of adventure to discover the secret he wants to share. The Tonga Lumina illuminated trail is a sensory experience in the forest. This 1.5-km nocturnal walk takes place on a stone dust pathway at the heart of nature. To start off, visitors show up at the bottom of the Flying Mile chairlift that will take them up to the midway station where they will be led to the entrance
of the trail. After taking visitors on a brief ascension, the trail slowly weaves its way down the hill through the woods, crosses streams and clearings. Participants can anticipate being on the pathway an average of one hour. Departures are continuous from sunset to closing, with a maximum of 300 people admitted per half-hour on the course

Esplanade Tranquille is the newest public space in the Quartier des Spectacles. Montrealers are welcome to visit this fun and inviting all-seasons spot, inspired by urban backyards. Families and other visitors will discover a diverse and entertaining cultural program -- a true reflection of the city. Esplanade Tranquille is named in honour of the Tranquille bookstore, once located on the site, and its owner, Henri Tranquille (1916-2005). It is an important site in contemporary Quebec history, having hosted the launch of the Refus global manifesto in 1948.

Loosely inspired by the history of Montreal, Cité Mémoire invites you to meet a host of characters who've witnessed the city's evolution first-hand. Poetic, dreamlike and occasionally playful, the tableaux come alive with images, words and music. Projected throughout Old Montreal, the work appears on the very walls that surround us, the ground on which we walk, the trees that frame our present. A creation by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon, in collaboration with Michel Marc Bouchard.
